How to Use These Health Calculators

Health numbers like BMI, BMR and daily calorie needs are a starting point for fitness planning, not a final verdict. These calculators give you quick estimates so you can set sensible weight, nutrition and activity goals before talking to a doctor or nutritionist.

Tips for Accurate Results

For BMI, enter weight in kilograms and height in centimetres. WHO classifies BMI under 18.5 as underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 as normal, 25 to 29.9 as overweight and 30 plus as obese. For Indian adults, many doctors use a tighter range (normal up to 22.9, overweight from 23) due to higher abdominal fat at lower BMI levels.

For BMR and TDEE, pick the activity level that matches your real week, not your goal week. Sedentary office work with no exercise is closer to 1.2x BMR than 1.5x. For calorie deficit, aim for a 300 to 500 kcal cut per day for steady fat loss rather than crash dieting.

Water intake calculators use body weight and climate. In Indian summer, add 500 to 750 ml extra. For pregnancy due date, enter the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) and average cycle length.

Real-World Example

Amit from Hyderabad is 32, weighs 82 kg at 175 cm and wants to lose belly fat. His BMI is 26.8 (overweight by Asian standards). The BMR calculator gives him about 1,780 kcal, and his TDEE at light activity is around 2,450 kcal. He sets a daily target of 2,000 kcal, uses the macro calculator to split it into 140 g protein, 50 g fat and 220 g carbs, and aims for 3 litres of water daily. After three months he checks his BMI again to see steady progress.

Accuracy and Limitations

Results are estimates based on widely used formulas (Harris-Benedict, Mifflin-St Jeor, WHO BMI bands). They do not account for muscle mass, medical conditions, medications or pregnancy complications. Always consult a registered doctor, dietician or gynaecologist before starting a new diet, fitness or pregnancy plan. These tools are educational and do not replace personal medical advice.
